In many cases, employers find that if specific skillsets are not available for new positions, it makes sense to grow the talent they need.
DESC works with experienced partners across the city to develop training programs that allow you to custom develop the skills you need your new hires to have. These training programs can run from a dozen trainees to many hundreds.
Major Metro Detroit healthcare employers were finding it difficult to recruit for key entry-level positions such as Patient Sitters and Patient Care Associates. DESC engaged with Henry Ford Health System, Detroit Medical Center and St. John Providence to agree a collaborative recruitment approach to grow the talent required, partnering with Focus: HOPE and Oakland University School of Nursing Continuing Education to develop a custom training program that worked for all three employers.
When Flex-N-Gate announced the opening of a new $160MM manufacturing facility in Detroit, DESC worked with the employer to recruit Detroiters to fill the hundreds of positions available, and developed a training program to give Detroiters the soft skills and practical experience required to work in this state-of-the-art facility. We also worked with the employer and Detroit City Council to emphasize career opportunities for Detroiters located close to the new plant.
