Chief Financial Officer
Terri Weems is a multi-disciplined Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with 20 years of experience spanning accounting, financial reporting, and auditing both in the US and abroad. She leverages this experience to resolve complex business and accounting issues, advise on internal control systems, and facilitate operational and strategic planning.
Her focus as CFO of DESC includes finance and internal operations. Terri will help lead DESC’s metric-driven accountability and data-driven decision-making approach, including providing the financial and operational information necessary to develop actionable recommendations. She also leads DESCs process optimization and continuous improvement efforts. She is an accomplished leader having previously managed several successful projects aimed at solving complex problems.
Prior to joining DESC, Terri audited and advised Fortune 500 companies for PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC). She also directed firm-wide innovation and transformational change efforts for PwC which led to improved organizational performance and improved profitability. She was responsible for designing, delivering and administering new workforce models, talent brands and performance management processes and several new technologies and procedures aimed at improving efficiencies, reducing the potential for compliance issues and managing interdependencies.
Terri earned her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Accounting from Ohio University. She is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, Michigan CPAs, and National Association of Black Accountants. She is heavily involved in mentoring youth throughout Detroit Public Schools and serves on the Board of Education for Farmington Public Schools.
