Chief Administrative Officer
Freyja Harris is responsible for oversight and management of compliance, procurement and contract functions, and for identification, development and implementation of new and existing internal policies to support the operation of a world class staffing agency. She directs the team to ensure that DESC operates with efficiency while complying with its by-laws and regulations associated with local, state and federal funding sources.
Freyja has 20 years of combined experience working in the fields of affordable housing, human services, and economic development for large and small nonprofits, local governments, the federal government, a private foundation, and academia. Her professional experience ranges from direct service to families and individuals experiencing homelessness, to leading a state-wide non-profit organization, to administering multiple programs across the states of Michigan, Florida, and Colorado with the goal of improving access, equity, and inclusion for diverse populations.
Freyja earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Florida, Master of Urban Planning and Master of Public Administration from the University of Colorado in Denver, and a Juris Doctor degree from Wayne State University Law School. Throughout her career, Freyja has integrated her diverse skills and educational background to provide an extensive set of project management, process improvement, mediation, and facilitation services for the benefit of her employers and communities she serves.
