Alessia Baker-Giles
Finance Director
Alessia Baker-Giles is responsible for the oversight of the Detroit Employment Solution Corporations Finance team. The Finance team works to ensure DESC is compliant with all federal, state, and local rules and regulations and maintains the fiscal integrity of the funds awarded to the agency.
Alessia has more than 33 years’ experience working in governmental and nonprofit finance. She is well versed in financial management including audit resolution, budgeting, cost allocation, cost control, forecasting, and analysis. Alessia has a track record of success blending and braiding funds across multiple federal and non-federal funding sources. She has also managed staff across several disciplines, from IT to Human Resources, and was part of the 2012 transition teams that successfully established Detroit Employment Solutions as a non-profit.
Alessia is a native Detroiter and graduated from Cass Tech High School. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and Master of Science in Management from the Walsh College of Accountancy and Business Administration in Troy, Michigan and is Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certified.
