In 2016, City of Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan’s Grow Detroit’s Young Talent (GDYT) program provided 8,000 summer jobs for Detroit youth.
Work experiences ranged from internships with Fortune 500 companies to small businesses in the area. One of the career paths offered was a TV and film career internship with Comedy Central’s production of ‘Detroiters’. GDYT youth Darren Terhune and Davey Sawitsky interned for new Comedy Central series ‘Detroiters’.
In total, two waves of GDYT youth were employed on the production. ‘Detroiters’ will debut on Comedy Central on February 7.
Grow Detroit’s Young Talent (GDYT) is a citywide summer jobs program that employs young adults between the ages of 14 and 24 for 6 weeks in July and August.
